Tyren Bradley, born Oct. 11, 2005, was sentenced Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Leavenworth County District Court to 32 months in prison, per a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson.

Bradley was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on June 26, 2026.

During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors argued Bradley should serve a prison sentence, while the defense argued there were substantial and compelling reasons to grant a dispositional departure. The judge denied the defense’s motion for departure and ordered Bradley to serve the 32-month prison sentence.

The shooting occurred April 28, 2026.

About 2:50 p.m., deputies with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Hillside Road for a reported shooting. Emergency medical personnel and law enforcement officers arrived to find one person suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to court records, several friends had gathered in the basement of the residence when their conversation turned to firearms and shooting competitions. Bradley removed a semiautomatic pistol and began demonstrating what he described to investigators as a “trick.” During the demonstration, Bradley pulled the trigger, causing the firearm to discharge.

The bullet struck the victim in the chest, causing his death.

“This case serves as a reminder that firearms must be handled responsibly at all times,” Thompson said. “A single careless act can have irreversible consequences for victims, families and everyone involved.”
