McLouth High boys cross country takes 5th at regionals, qualifies 2 for state

The McLouth High boys cross country team placed fifth at a Class 2A regional at Alma-Wabaunsee.
Henry Cloyd placed fourth with a time of 18 minutes, 58.26 seconds, while teammate Dylan Stemmons placed seventh with a 19:26.83 time.
Both advanced to the state championships Saturday in Wamego as individual qualifiers.
Others competing for the MHS boys team were: sophomore Henry Wahl (38th, 21:55.88), senior Ryan Beach (51st, 22:50.91) sophomore Noah Shank (77th, 25:27.77), senior Camden Weisenbach (75th, 25:16.23) and junior Collin Coit (81st, 27:00.43).
Jefferson County North won the meet with 59 points. Bennington placed second (73), Pleasant Ridge third (92) and Salina-Sacred Heart fourth (123).
McLouth came in fifth with 138, ahead of sixth-place St. Marys, which scored 146.
Rounding out the field were Wabaunsee (166), Jackson Heights (166), Republic County (196) and Mission Valley (203).
The MHS girls didn’t filed a full team, but senior Sky Forsberg placed 42nd with a 28:55.93 time. Sophomore Lily Mahon placed 49th (30:29.16),
Sacred Heart won the girls team title with 34. Wabaunsee placed second with 67 and Oskaloosa third with 107. Valley Falls finished fourth (110), Bennington fifth (124), Pleasant Ridge sixth (138), Republic County seventh (154), Jackson Heights eighth (174) and Jefferson County North ninth (174).
The MHS boys will compete in the final race Saturday at Wamego. The 2A boys race is set to start at 12:55 p.m. that day.
