McLouth starts new homecoming tradition

On Monday students at McLouth Elementary School dressed like grandparents, while the next day was Animal Tuesday when students could dress in their favorite animal attire.

Today is Western Wednesday, so there likely will be many cowboys and cowgirls on campus.

The next day is Tailgate Thursday (Soccer Mom/Barbecue Dad) and Friday will be Fan Friday (College/Chiefs/Bulldog attire)

McLouth High School students are having their own set of theme days.

Monday was America — Red, White and Blue Day, while Tuesday was Switch Day (Students dress like teachers and teachers dress like students).

Today is Class Color Day when students will be wearing homecoming shirts and Thursday is Fashion Police Day. Students are encouraged to wear their worst outfits.

Friday will be Purple and Gold Day.

New this year is the homecoming parade taking place tonight instead of Friday afternoon.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. on Union Street. The Buff and Tuff volleyball game will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Gold Gymnasium

Tug of War, Powder Puff Football and a scavenger hunt will start at 7:45 p.m. at Stan Braksick Sports Complex.

At 9 p.m. a bonfire celebration for students only will take place.

Food trucks Country Girl Food Shack, The Sweet Life and That Smoker will be at the football complex from 6-9 p.m. as well.

A pep rally for students will take place at 2:15 p.m. Friday at MHS and then homecoming royalty will be crowned before this year’s homecoming game between McLouth and Valley Falls. The game starts at 7 p.m.

The homecoming dance will take place after Friday’s football game at the school campus.

Homecoming candidates this year are Gage Fields, Judd Holwick, Mark Aspinwall, Dani Lee, Cresinda Bandel and Delaney Schempp.
