MHS shut out Valley Falls, 44-0, in the home opener at Stan Braksick Sports Complex. It marked the Bulldogs’ second shutout of the season. MHS also defeated Oskaloosa, 36-0, in the season opener and dropped Jackson Heights, 38-14, on Sept. 11.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 in NEKL play and 3-0 overall. The Dragons fell to 0-3 and 0-3.

McLouth will take on Doniphan West (0-3 in Twin Valley League play and 0-3 overall) at home.

The Mustangs are coming off a 49-0 loss to Centralia. McLouth and Centralia (1-2) both are in the Others Considered category in the KPreps Top 5 rankings in Class 1A.

Olpe (2-1) and Jefferson County North (2-1) also are in the Others Considered group. MHS plays the Eagles in Week 6 at home and the Chargers in the regular-season finale in Week 8 at JCN.

MHS and Riverside are the only NEKL team still sporting undefeated records. The two squads will not meet this year, as they don’t play in the regulars season and Riverside is in 2A, so they won’t meet in the postseason. The Cyclones are on the Others Considered list in 2A.
