Local bank offers coins, new and old, for holidays
Looking for a Christmas gift you can bank on?
Community National Bank just might have the answer for you.
Shannon Leonard, a teller at the bank, is in charge of selling a line of commemorative coins, both used and new. From Elvis to angels, the selection has it all.
“The Elvis is a heart-shaped coin and stamp set,” Leonard said. “The coin contains one ounce of silver, and the set sells for $24.95.”
For sports fans, the lineup includes Michael Jordan, Mike Elway, and yes, even NASCAR coins. Other items not in stock can be ordered at the bank for a two-day delivery, Leonard said.
Circulated coins include a five-coin set: a Morgan silver dollar, a walking liberty half-dollar, a standing liberty quarter, a winged liberty dime, an Indian head nickel and an Indian head penny, Leonard said. These sets sell for $39.95.
Many other commemorative coins are available, including coins for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries.
So far, there seems to be local interest in the bank’s new line.
“Sales are going pretty good, so far, and we’ve only had them a week,” Leonard said.
