Big T Tent fuss
To the editor:
I am writing regarding the article in the paper on March 29 concerning Steve Trieb and “Big T Tent Rental.”
The piece of property raising such a fuss in our community at County Road 5 and Laming Road is owned by Steve Trieb and is where he is currently storing his business. If I may recall, at one point Steve Trieb had tried to sell this property to Meier Concrete. Meier Concrete would have brought many opportunities for income and employment for several families in this area. The city would not allow the zoning to Meier, therefore the property has not sold.
Mr. Trieb has previously complied with the city’s request on another said property on Main Street. If the city is so determined to clean up our community, why hasn’t the same demand been made of other property owners? I find it hard to believe that the conversation between Sen. Don Biggs and Mr. Larry Shepek focused only on “Big T Tents.”
There are several “eyesores” in this community, not just the above mentioned. With all of the tourism about to enter our community from the Nascar track, and with all of the new residential areas, one would think that the city administration would want to clean up the entire city, not just focus on one individual.
It seems as though, in this small town, if you don’t represent “affluence” you’re a NOBODY! People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
For those of you who represent the city of Tonganoxie and anyone else against the middle class trying to make a living, you should clean up your own yard before you start criticizing others. And furthermore, you should make the same rules apply to all!
