Gambino’s Pizza changes its name
Gambino’s Pizza in Tonganoxie recently became an independently owned business and the name changed to Mo’s Pizza.

After being a franchise for 10 years, Emmet and Marla Wetta were ready to make the restaurant independent once again. In April, the Wetta’s franchise contract expired and the two decided not to renew.

Once the restaurant became Gambino’s, the Wetta’s added two other locations in Eudora and Bonner Springs. They have sold both businesses since and are ready to focus on the Tonganoxie location.

“Everything’s better going back to the way we used to make it,” Emmet Wetta said.

The name Mo’s came from his older brother Morris, who died two years ago after receiving a lung transplant.

Students receive $1,250 from papers
Tonganoxie High School music students are $1,250 richer, thanks to their work on a newspaper subscription program.

Late this spring, students sold subscriptions to The Mirror and to the Lawrence Journal-World. In return, the students were given $5 for each new or renewed Mrror subscription sold. And they were given $10 for each Journal-World subscription sold.

Last week, The Mirror gave the students $810, and the Journal-World gave them $440.

“I’m really pleased that the students and the newspapers were able to successfully work together,” said Caroline Trowbridge, editor and publisher of The Mirror. “I really am pleased that our subscribers participated in this effort. And special thanks goes to Donna Mages, who collected subscription money from the students. She’s a great volunteer.”
