Iona L. Hemme
Services for Iona Lillian (Mey) Hemme, 82, Leavenworth, were Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City Kan.
Mrs. Hemme died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at her home. She was born July 22, 1917 in Baugh.
She worked during World War II in the tube bending department for North American Aviation in the Faixfax district in Kansas City, Kan., and later worked for several years for Wee Winnies Wearables in Kansas City, Kan. She had been a Camp Fire Girls leader and a Sunday school teacher at the Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, Kan.
A son, Mark Hemme, died in 1961.
Survivors include her husband, Milburn Kendall “Kenny” Hemme, of the home; two daughters, Kendra Morrison, Shawnee, and Carolyn Studdard, Grandview, Mo.; two brothers, Stanley Mackey, New York, and J.T. Mackey, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Jane Finehart, Mission, Texas, Martha Lasister, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and Pauline Goe, Hamilton, Mo.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
