Chieftains survive De Soto rally
Thank goodness it’s Friday, this time.
The Tonganoxie boys’ basketball team was happy with its outcome last Friday against De Soto.
And maybe a little relieved.

The previous Friday, Tonganoxie bolted to a 14-2 lead and led 22-9 against Immaculata at one point before the Raiders surged back and eventually won.
“Our intensity dropped off,” Walker said. “That’s my job to keep it up.”
Walker took a timeout after the Wildcats cut the lead to 39-35, and his team responded. The Chieftains went on a 9-2 run and held on for the victory.
Senior Bryan Gurss was the game’s top scorer, notching 20 points and shooting 70 percent from the field. He also made five of seven free throws.
Fellow senior Jordan Glenn scored 12 points off the bench and was perfect from the field. He also made two three-point shots.
