Obituary: John H. Snowden
Services for Retired USN John H. Snowden, 76, Tonganoxie, will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Feb. 6, 2002, at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Snowden died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Chicago. He had lived in Tonganoxie since 1986.
He was a jet engine machinist who served for 30 years in the U.S. Navy before he retired in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Tonganoxie Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Lawrence, the Abdallah Shrine, Byron H. Mehl American Legion post No. 23 of Leavenworth; the 40&8 Voiture No. 1163; and the Eagles of Leavenworth.
His wife, Laura, died in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Snowden, Hanford, Calif., and Bob Snowden, North Port, Fla.; and two granddaughters.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Abdallah Shrine Temple, Crippled Children’s Committee, 5300 Metcalf, Overland Park, 66201.
