Obituary: John Lyman McCaffrey
Services for John Lyman McCaffrey, 73, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor.
Mr. McCaffrey died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March, 11, 1929, in Tonganoxie, the son of William R. and Alice (Curry) McCaffrey.
He was a barber in Tonganoxie for 46 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Tonganoxie.
He was a founder of Tonganoxie’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and had coached and sponsored girls and boys baseball teams.
Mr. McCaffrey served in the U.S. Air Force.
On Sept. 3, 1955, he married Marian O’Leary in Dorchester, Mass. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, John Michael McCaffrey, Bob McCaffrey and Brian Edward McCaffrey, all of Lawrence; and Jim McCaffrey, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Linda McCaffrey, Tonganoxie; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
