Obituary: Gary Edward Carlson

A memorial service for Gary Edward Carlson, 56, Lansing, will be at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 4, 2002, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth.

Mr. Carlson died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Emanuel Oscar and Ruth Irene Edwards Carlson.

Mr. Carlson was director for Leavenworth Area Development, an economic development group. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He married Mary Ellen Pollard in 1969 in Omaha. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Robert Gary Carlson, Omaha; a daughter, Deborah Ann Carlson, Omaha; two brothers, Charles Carlson, Grand Junction, Colo., and Darrell Carlson, Prescott, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to St. John Kansas City Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
