Obituary: Lewis Dale Freeman Jr.
Graveside services for Lewis Dale Freeman Jr., 74, Tonganoxie, will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Sept. 18, 2002, at Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Peggy Knight officiating.
Mr. Freeman died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Lawrence, the son of Lewis D. and Mary (Hawkins) Freeman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Congregational Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9271, both of Tonganoxie. He retired in 1991 as a heavy equipment operator working out of Local 101 Operating Engineers in Kansas City, Kan.
He married Marjorie Louise Marvin on March 23, 1952, in Huntsville, Ark. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Cecil Freeman, Leavenworth, Dale Freeman, Brick, N.J., and Clifford Freeman, Bonner Springs; two daughters, Joice Leipard, Bonner Springs, and Nancy Drake, Salina; one brother, Galen Freeman, LaTour, Mo.; seven half-brothers, Alvy Freeman, Bonner Springs, Earl Freeman, Kansas City, Kan., Neil Freeman, Bonner Springs, Robert Freeman, Edwardsville, Gary Freeman, Mission, Stewart Freeman and Rick Freeman, Bonner Springs; one sister, Betty Jean Casteel, Oak Grove, Mo.; two half-sisters, Dalene Mulich, Bonner Springs, and Cheryl Drummond, Bucyrus; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
