Obituary: Irene Goos
Services for Irene Goos, 88, Ava, Mo., were Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo., with the Revs. Rob Hodson, Russell Heatherly and Gary Swearengin officiating. Interment was in Ava Cemetery, Ava, Mo.
Mrs. Goos died Sept. 13, 2004, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava, Mo. She was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Taylor, Neb., the daughter of Harry Chester Van Houten and Faye C. Abbott Van Houten.
She had lived in Ava since 1992, where she had moved from Tonganoxie.
On Aug. 23, 1936, she married Ralph Allen Goos in Thedford, Neb.
Mrs. Goos was a retired postal clerk and also had taught school in Nebraska for five years. She was a member of Tonganoxie United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph, of the home; three sons, Carl Goos, Ava, Mo., Pete Goos, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Paul Goos, Tonganoxie; four daughters, Patty Heatherly, Ozark, Mo., Sally Jo Murphy, Shreveport, La., Judy Fleer, San Diego, Calif., and Donita Moore, Muskogee, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gideons International.
