Obituary: Marie Wilhelmina Hallenbeck
Services for Marie Wilhelmina Hallenbeck, 87, Tonganoxie, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Hallenbeck died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born July 5, 1917, in Lawrence, the daughter of Louie and Mary (Reimer) Milleret.
She grew up in Linwood and graduated from Linwood High School.
She worked as a bus driver for the former Mackey Rural Grade School and for the Tonganoxie school district. She also was employed by Leavenworth County for more than 20 years.
Until 2004, she delivered meals to those who were homebound, and only stopped doing that when she had hip surgery.
Mrs. Hallenbeck was a member of the Happy Hour Social Club and the United Methodist Church of Tonganoxie.
She married George S. Hallenbeck on Nov. 24, 1938. He died in 1987.
Survivors include three sons, Roger Hallenbeck, Great Bend, Ronnie Hallenbeck, Johnston, Iowa, and Larry Hallenbeck, Beijing, China; a brother. L.J. “Pete” Milleret, Lawrence; a sister, Bertha Wise, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Red Cross for the Tsunami Relief Fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence 66044.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until service time Thursday.
