Obituary: James O. Combs Jr.

James O. Combs Jr., 75, Easton, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Country Care of Easton. He as born Nov. 6, 1929, in Fairfax, Mo., the son of James O. Sr. and Bernice Marie (Gupser) Combs.

He retired in 1970 from the U.S. Army at a rank of staff sergeant, after 20 years of service. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 56 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7.

He married Ada Marie (Goetting) Green on Oct. 29, 1925, in Miami, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Marie E. Arnold; four sons, Richard, William, James and Jonathan; a stepson, Edward Green Jr.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Combs’ request, no services will be held. Burial with full military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. today, May 18, 2005, at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
