Obituary: Wayne C. Black

Services for Wayne C. Black, 90, Tonganoxie, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Black died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Sedalia, Mo. He was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Scribner (Dodge County), Neb., the son of Maurice F. and Adie Belle (Brown) Black.

He served in the U.S. Army as a crytographer during World War II, stationed at Wendover Army Airfield, Wendover, Utah.

He was a dairy farmer until he retired in 1971. He also was a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church.

On Aug. 9, 1942, Mr. Black married Mildred M. Ward in Appanoose. She died Feb. 7, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Ron Black, Washington, Ill.; a daughter, Deana Rader, Sedalia, Mo.; two brothers, Maurice Black Jr., Tonganoxie, and Dale Black, Olathe; a sister, Opal Kerns, Tonganoxie; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family, which will receive friends one hour before service time at the funeral home, suggests memorial contributions to the church.
