Prison ends lock-down

By Staff Report - | Sep 8, 2006

Lansing Correctional Facility officials say the facility is returning to normal operations, two days after fights involving 13 inmates forced a lockdown of the maximum-security unit.

Those inmates involved in the fights, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, remain in segregation with disciplinary action pending.

In a news release issued late Friday morning, officials said they had completed a search of the unit in the aftermath of the fights. Several homemade weapons, a cellular telephone and phone charger, a small quantity of tobacco and other minor miscellaneous contraband were confiscated, officials said.

Standard inmate visitation is expected this weekend, the news release said.
