Obituary: Ellen Marie Pierron

Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine Marie Pierron, 76, McLouth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church, Easton. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Pierron died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., with complications from multiple sclerosis.

She was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Fredrick and Julia (Finneran) Knapps.

Mrs. Pierron attended the old Cathedral Grade School through the eighth grade and graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth.

Mrs. Pierron worked at Harth Bakery, Beluski Wadsworth Dietary Kitchen Bakery and Hallmark Cards. She also did the office work for her husband’s firm, May’s Construction Co. in Leavenworth and later Topeka. She was an active member and volunteer in the St. John Hospital Guild, Leavenworth, and did a lot of volunteer work while living in Topeka.

Mrs. Pierron was a member of Daughters of Isabel Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the MS Society. She was a former member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, Topeka, and most recently was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie.

She married Ray Pierron on Sept. 11, 1948, in Leavenworth. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Rae Tegtmeyer, Branson, Mo., Jane Denise Pierce, Topeka; a son, Bennett Ray, McLouth, eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, where there will be a Rosary conducted at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Building Fund of Tonganoxie, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth 66048.
