Tonganoxie woman in I-70 wreck

A Tonganoxie woman was transported to a Topeka hospital Friday after she was involved in a wreck that for a time shut down Interstate 70 west of Topeka.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Patti J. Hein, Tonganoxie, was driver a 2004 Ford Expedition westbound on I-70 and drifted off the right shoulder and struck the guard rail, overcorrected to the left and drove across both lanes thru the other guard rail, over the embankment and rolled coming to rest in Blacksmith Creek.

She was transported by air ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, where her condition was not yet known.

KTKA 49 in Topeka was reporting Hein’s wreck and another left drivers struck in traffic on I-70 for nearly 45 minutes beginning about 7 p.m. Friday.
