Obituary: Vicki D. (Groshong) Schalansky

Memorial services for Vicki D. (Groshong) Schalansky, 38, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 SW Drury Lane, Topeka. Her family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 31, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th St., Topeka. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Schalansky died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at St Francis Hospital in Topeka, following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1968, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Jerry and Winnie (Westphal) Groshong. She graduated in 1986 from Tonganoxie High School and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kansas University in 1998.
She worked at Ogden Publications in Topeka as associate editor of Capper’s Magazine.
She married Jay Patrick Schalansky on Sept. 23, 2000, in the Osbourne Chapel on the Baker University campus in Baldwin. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include her daughter, Charlotte; her parents, Jerry and Winnie Groshong, Tonganoxie; her sister, Mindi Lux, McLouth; and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Charlotte Jade Schalansky Educational Fund, in care of Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th St., Topeka 66604.
