Obituary: David Lee Bothwell
Services for David Lee Bothwell, 65, Manhattan, were Saturday, March 24, at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Neb. Burial was in Webber Cemetery at Webber, Neb.
He died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Bothwell was born April 2, 1941, in Superior, the son of Harold J. and Opal Joy (Wilson) Bothwell.
He attended Webber Elementary School and graduated from Superior High School. He continued his education at Kansas State University.
Mr. Bothwell was involved with numerous community and civic organizations in Mankato and Jewell County. He taught vocational agriculture and served as the FFA adviser for three years at Wamego and 11 years in Mankato. He worked as an agricultural lender with Production Credit Association for three years before serving 20 years as executive vice president and bank manager for the former First National Bank of Mankato. As a youth, he lived in the Webber area, moving to Wamego, where he lived for three years; then his family moved to Mankato, where he lived for 35 years and raised his family. In December of 2003 they moved to Manhattan.
He married Barbara Nelson on Nov. 24, 1966, at Ruskin, Neb. She survives of the home in Manhattan.
Other survivors include a son, Jim , Tonganoxie; a daughter, Carrie Jones, Belton, Texas; five grandchildren; a sister, Jean Davis, Manhattan; and a brother, Lawrence ‘Lefty,’ Superior, Neb.
