TMS wrestlers pick up two victories

The Tonganoxie Warriors Middle School wrestling team defeated Patton and Warren Nov. 13 at Lansing.

Tonganoxie defeated Patton, 82-15, and Warren, 63-36.

The Warriors are 9-2 on the season.

Johnson County 2nd at national tourney

The Johnson County Community College volleyball team, which contains Tonganoxie High alum Rachel Bogard, placed second at the Women’s Volleyball Championships this weekend in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The tournament contained 16 teams.

The Cavaliers went 3-1 on the weekend, with victories against North Dakota State (30-22, 30-16, 30-27), Des Moines (30-20, 30-15, 30-15) and Southwestern Illinois (30-21, 30-23, 30-27.

Johnson County lost in the finals against Kishwaukee (Ill.), 30-22, 30-26, 20-30, 30-25. The Cavaliers finished the season 26-5.

Sophomores Jackie Swab (Olathe) and Stephanie Wright (Prairie Village) made the all-tournament team, which consisted of 12 players, for the Cavaliers.

Correction

The Nov. 7 edition of The Mirror incorrectly identified a Tonganoxie eighth-grade volleyball player in the photo “Finishing in Style.”

The volleyball player should have been identified as Megan Hummelgaard.
