Wathena wallops MHS
The McLouth High football team fell to 0-3 on the year after a 56-0 loss at Wathena.
The Bulldogs’ problem this year defensively has been stopping the run. They gave up 452 yards rushing against the Wildcats. Wathena running backs Bryce Paden and Colton Bauman rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns each. Wathena totaled eight touchdowns on the ground.
Derrick Crouse was 2-for-12 passing with 17 yards for McLouth. Ryan Smith hauled in one pass for 11 yards and rushed for 12 yards. Jake Hullinger led McLouth with 19 yards rushing.
WHS was penalized often — nine times for 149 yards. But its offense was too much. Wathena produced 512 yards of total offense, compared to McLouth’s 52.
MHS next will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Valley Falls.
