Braves take second at nationals
The Tonganoxie Braves 18U softball team brought home a second-place finish Saturday from the North American Fastpitch Association “B” national tournament, which was held at Clinton Lake Softball Complex in Lawrence.
The Braves fell to the Columbus (Neb.) 6-3 in the finals. Tonganoxie defeated the St. Louis Sluggers, 5-2, earlier in the day to advance to the championship.
In other NAFA tournaments, the Kansas Red Hots, from Augusta, defeated the Tulsa (Okla.) Blast, 12-9 in the 10U division. And, in the 14U tourney, the Oklahoma Twisters beat the Nebraska Rockets, 5-1.
