Youth granted continuation in juvenile case

By Shawn Linenberger - | Dec 4, 2009

A 15-year-old Tonganoxie youth facing sexual misconduct charges in Johnson County Juvenile Court has been granted a continuation.

The youth, who appeared Thursday in the Johnson County Courthouse, now will appear at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19. His attorney requested the additional time during Tuesday’s appearance.

The Tonganoxie youth is alleged to have inappropriately touched a Shawnee youth and committed misconduct against four others.

The teen was arraigned in October in Olathe on one count of aggravated indecent solicitation and three counts of misdemeanor battery.

According to Capt. Bill Hisle, a spokesman for the Shawnee Police Department, the charges stem from a May 26 report alleging misconduct by the 15-year-old boy, who at the time was a Shawnee resident.

Another Shawnee youth reported inappropriate touching by a neighbor, reports said.

In the course of their investigation, Hisle said, police uncovered alleged misconduct by the teen against four other Shawnee juveniles.

The alleged incidents were to have occurred between Dec. 1, 2008, and May 23, 2009, Hisle said.
