County included in flash flood watch

By Staff Reports - | Jul 20, 2009

? The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo., has issued a flash flood watch for portions of Kansas and Missouri, including Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties from 7 p.m. Monday through Tuesday morning.

Periods of heavy rainfall are expected across eastern Kansas and parts of far western Missouri this evening and tonight. Rainfall amounts may locally exceed 1 to 3 inches and may fall within a short period of time. The threat for severe storms is low.

As a result localized flash flooding may occur in addition to river flooding.

A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

The National Weather Service reminded people that flash flooding can present dangerous situations and to exercise caution.
