Lawrence handles Post 41 in 2nd round
The Lawrence Raiders made short work of Tonganoxie Post 41 in the second round of the Kansas AAA Legion state baseball tournament.
The Raiders took advantage of 11 walks, pounded 18 hits and scored 10 in the first inning to cruise to a 24-2 rout of Tonganoxie on Thursday at Jaycee Ballpark.
Now on the consolation side of the bracket, Tonganoxie will play Newton at 10 a.m. on Friday. A loss in that game would end Post 41’s season. With a victory, the team would play Friday night following a semifinal between Manhattan and Lawrence. Tonganoxie would play the winner of a Friday afternoon game between Hays and Pittsburg.
