Audiologist speaks to Leavenworth County Sertoma Club
Mary Wade, audiologist and fundraiser for the Annual Fund for the Sertoma Foundation, was guest speaker when the Sertoma Club of Leavenworth County met at noon Nov. 5 at Pullman Place Restaurant.
Wade presented on the deaflympics and the athletes that persons in Kansas were able to send and the many gold, silver and bronze medals that were won.
Sertoma will be represented in the Veteran’s Day Parade with several members in the convertible with Santa. Chris Williams will make the cards to distribute about the Santa On Call program. JoNell Thomas, Nancy Martin, Chris Williams, Stephanie Marks, and Dick Hall have signed up to participate.
Sertoma will be hosting at the River City Community Theater on Nov. 13 for the “Bell, Book and Candle” production. JoNell Thomas will assist in the box office and Chris Williams, Jeff Copeland, Dick Hall and Diane Hall will host in the theater.
Several members of Sertoma will be part of the Salvation Army bell-ringing program at a variety of locations in Leavenworth. A sign up sheet was distributed with the dates and locations.
The January meeting will be a membership recruitment time with Julie Hejtmanek, International Sertoma president, as the guest speaker. The meeting will be at noon Jan. 7, 2010, at the Riverfront Community Center in the Women’s Room.
Nominations for Sertoman of the Year and Sertoma Service Award were closed and the selection committee, chaired by Stephanie Marks will make the selections.
Michelle Wilson Skinner, Sertoma district governor, will be the guest speaker at the noon Dec. 3 meeting at Pullman Place Restaurant, 230 Cherokee St. Members are asked to bring a $5 gift to exchange and invite guests to hear our district governor give information about upcoming events.
