The Chieftains (11-8) received the No. 4 seed in their sub-state tournament and will play host to No. 5 Atchison (6-12) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

A win Tuesday would advance THS to the sub-state semifinals next Friday, which will be played at Royal Valley High in Hoyt.

The Tonganoxie girls, meanwhile, hit the road for their first-round sub-state game. The Chieftains (6-13) are the No. 6 seed in their bracket and will travel to Hoyt to play No. 3 Royal Valley (10-10) Monday at 7 p.m.

With a victory on Monday, THS would return to Hoyt Thursday for a semifinal.
