Career fair focuses on military veterans

By Staff | Mar 17, 2010

On April 7, Kansas City-area employers can meet, interview and recruit dedicated, skilled and dependable workers.

Area employers can use this event to acknowledge the fidelity and service local veterans have provided to their country and this region. They also will be able to draw from a pool of workers where skills, responsibility and awareness of duty are known qualities. Hirable attendees will include former service members and current active-duty personnel re-entering the workforce.

The 22nd Annual Veterans and Military Personnel Career Fair will be held on Wed., April 7 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive (just off 435 and Eastwood Trafficway).

Sponsors and supporters of the job fair include Kansas City Veterans Career Fair Inc., The Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Missouri Career Center, the Full Employment Council and the Missouri Veterans Commission.

The registration fee for employers recruiting at the fair is $100, which includes the provision of table, chairs and two lunches for recruiters. The deadline for online employer registration is March 26. Job-seeking veterans who wish to attend are also asked to pre-register online, but there is no admission fee for job seekers. Online registration forms for the fair are available at missourivets.com and vetjobs.net.
