What do you think Tonganoxie will look like in 10 years? I think its going to look like a huge crazy city that is completely different.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? I hope to be out of college and to have a steady job.
How do you think growing up in or near Tonganoxie has shaped and prepared you for the rest of your life? Tonganoxie is so small I think that it helped knowing everyone around me.

What will you miss most about high school?
I will miss the closeness that our community has in both the students and the staff. I feel like many of my teachers were also my friends. I will also miss all the people that i met through debate and forensics.

What will you miss least about high school? I will not miss the arbitrary book work, and a lot of the unnecessary drama that we find ourselves wrapped up in as well as the social hierarchy that we have created during the last four years.
What event in world history stands out most in your memory thus far in your lifetime? I remember the Y2K scare pretty well. I was only 8 but i remember how we all thought the world was going to end. I also enjoy the parallel to the coming 2012 predictions. I am sure everything will be OK.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? I would love to be done with school, but i am sure in ten years i will be on some adventure that my brain is still yet to conceive.
How do you think growing up in or near Tonganoxie has shaped and prepared you for the rest of your life? I am not sure yet how growing up int Tongie has shaped me. I think it has done good things. Taught me how to live in close quarters with others, and I have learned that you never escape your past, especially in a small town. only time will tell what impression tonganoxie has left on me.

What are your plans after graduating from THS? Attend William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. I plan on majoring in English and political communications, with a minor in theater.
If you have decided on a college major, why did you choose that major?
What will you miss most about high school? I chose my major (English/political communications) partially because Jewell doesn’t offer a journalism major and partially because I have always loved English class and politics and feel like it’s something I would really enjoy.
What will you miss most about high school? I will miss the relaxed atmosphere of high school the most. It’s very easy to form bonds with your teachers and have lots of fun during class while learning.
What will you miss least about high school? This is kind of a tough question, but I would say that the thing I will miss the most is the lack of enthusiasm for education that some classmates display. While most seem willing to try, I feel as though those few who don’t care really hamper my educational vibes.
What event in world history stands out most in your memory thus far in your lifetime? I have two. One was world-changing and that’s the events of 9/11. It changed the way our society perceives the world and the way the world perceives of society. It also made us feel less secure, which is something that Americans are definitely not used to.The other event is the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States. While it’s not a “world-changing” event (though it will, I believe, benefit America) it is a very historic event I will always remember.
What do you think Tonganoxie will look like in 10 years? Tonganoxie will look just like Overland Park or Olathe. I’m sure that those towns are very nice places to live and all, but they don’t scream originality or small-town charm.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? I hope to be a humorist working at Time Magazine. I really enjoy the satirical humor of Joel Stein and I would love to take his place as the journalism world’s smart-alek. If that doesn’t work out, I would love to host “The Soup,” a comedy show that lampoons television.
How do you think growing up in or near Tonganoxie has shaped and prepared you for the rest of your life? Growing up in Tonganoxie has taught me the value of kindness and community, which will definitely carry me far in life.
LACEY MOORE
What are your plans after graduating from THS? Attend Kansas State University, majoring in business-finance and minoring in Spanish.
If you have decided on a college major, why did you choose that major? I’ve always known I am a businesswoman. I love working with people and figures. I interned at a bank during the summer before my junior year and ever since my career goals have been clear to me.
What will you miss most about high school? Being with my friends. I’ve had the same friends since grade school and after spending my whole life with them, they’ve become more like family.
What will you miss least about high school? I’m not going to miss the work, but I will have three times as much next year.
What event in world history stands out most in your memory thus far in your lifetime? Sept. 11, 2001. I believe I was in fourth grade and I can remember hearing about it for weeks and weeks even though I didn’t completely understand it at the time.
What do you think Tonganoxie will look like in 10 years? Tonganoxie is slowly becoming a suburban area. In ten years my high school will probably be at least 5A. We’re losing our small town vibe slowly but surely. If you compare the size of my grade in kindergarten to now it’s amazing how much we’ve grown. It will be interesting to see where our “small town” is headed.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? I hope to be settled into a community much like the one I’ve grown up in. I also hope to be married and starting a family of my own by then.
How do you think growing up in or near Tonganoxie has shaped and prepared you for the rest of your life? Tonganoxie has been the most wonderful place to grown up in and call home. There’s always someone to give you a hand or a shoulder to lean on. We’re such a close, family oriented community that has helped many people through hard times. Tonganoxie has taught me that you can always be whoever you want to be when you’re “HOME”. This community has stayed behind my class through all of our struggles with the loss of our beloved classmates. Here, you can always go home and feel safe.
