THS students having career fair, service day next week
Tonganoxie High School will have its annual Career Fair and Community Service Day on Wednesday, May 2.
In the morning, THS students will participate in a career fair, during which representatives from area businesses and organizations will visit with students. In the afternoon, students will lend their hands for community service projects. If any residents would like to have a team of students come to do chores, they can contact Pam Arevalo at the high school, (913) 845-2654.
Some students also will be having bake sales from 12:30-2:30 p.m. that afternoon to raise money for Team Tongie outside Paul’s Barbershop, 527 E. Fourth St., and First State Bank and Trust on East U.S. Highway 24-40.
Cookies, cinnamon rolls, brownies, cakes and pies will be offered, and students will be selling chances to win a piece of furniture made by Steve Hughes’ shop class. The groups have raised $1,500 during the past two years through the Community Service Day bake sale.
