Annual Wyandotte County Open at Sunflower Hills this weekend

The 36th annual Wyandotte County Open Golf Championship will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Sunflower Hills Golf Course, 12200 Riverview Ave.

The tournament, a 36-hole stroke event, will have six men’s flights and two women’s flights. Entry costs $90. Tee times will be available Thursday, Aug. 9. The entry fee also includes a tee package sponsored by Danny’s Bar & Grill, a hot dog lunch on Saturday and a Sunday dinner.

The Wyandotte County Open is Kansas City’s longest putt contest. Prizes will be awarded for those closest to the hole on all four par-3 holes on both days. A long drive contest will also be hosted on No. 10.

Closest to the hole on No. 16 on Saturday will receive a $100 gift certificate to the course’s pro shop. On Sunday, the closest to the hole on No. 16 will win a foursome at Sunflower Hills from teequest.com.
