THS students leading book drive for Children’s Mercy

By Staff | Mar 13, 2012

A pair of Tonganoxie High School juniors is spearheading a book drive to benefit Children’s Mercy hospitals and clinics.

THS juniors Tyler O’Briant and Wyatt Maurer, who also are on the hospital’s teen advisory board, are conducting the Reading Round Up March Book Drive.

O’Briant and Maurer are asking for new or gently used books that should be odor-free; for example, they should have no odor of cigarette smoke. Books also need to be printed after 1985 to avoid toxic prints.

Monetary donations also are being accepted. Checks may be made out to Children’s Mercy Hospital. In the memo section donors should write “Child Life-Clinic Books” or “Child Life-Teen Inpatient.” This will allow Child Life to buy items for teens who are inpatients.

Books can be dropped off throughout March at The Downtown Drugstore, 516 E. Fourth St., Tonganoxie.
