Chieftain soccer No. 4 seed in regional bracket
Thanks to some late-season success, the Tonganoxie High girls soccer team has earned a No. 4 seed in its Class 4-1A northeast regional bracket, released Saturday by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
The Chieftains (7-8-1), winners of their last five games, will play host to No. 13 seed Bishop Ward (2-12-1) at 5 p.m. Tuesday. THS won both regular season meetings with the Cyclones, claiming a 3-1 decision on April 10 at home and a 7-0 shutout on April 17 at BWHS.
If THS wins its regional opener, it will host the winner of No. 5 Piper (7-8-1) and No. 12 Baldwin (3-12) at 5 p.m. Friday. The Chieftains traveled to PHS on April 9 and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. They split two meetings with Baldwin, falling 2-1 on April 16 and winning 5-1 on April 27.
The winner of each regional will advance to quarterfinal action, which begins on May 22.
