Jarbalo Jottings
Joy Waters, Ann Matthews and Joyce Terry met with Helen Lohman Tuesday, Sept. 11, at her home to make plans for the annual Jarbalo High School alumni reunion. It will be Saturday, Oct. 13 Jarbalo United Methodist Church with a covered dish dinner at 4 p.m. and meeting to follow.
Jarbalo United Methodist Church Women met on Wednesday. Marilyn Oxley led the meeting. Seven members answered roll call and reported 52 care calls.
A slate of officers was presented and voted on. The officers remain the same. They are: President, Marilyn Oxley; vice president, secretary, Faye Cleavinger; treasurer, Frances Jeannin. Peachez Joles and Thamar Barnett are the nominating committee.
Final plans were made for the rummage and bake sale. The dates are Friday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group will take orders for frozen, unbaked pumpkin pies from now until Oct. 25. Plans were also made for the chili and soup supper, which will be Oct. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Thamar Barnett read the story of he hymn “America” and also served refreshments to Marilyn Oxley, Peachez Joles, Frances Jeannin, Rosie Oelschlaeger, Faye Cleavinger and Pastor Larry Grove.
Frances Jeannin met with Oelschlaeger cousins on Friday at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bonner Springs.
Visitors at the home of Orville and Rosie Oelschlaeger over the weekend were John and Janice Oelschlaeger and Amy of Lawrence, Michael Oelschlaeger and his granddaughter, Ellie.
