THS grad Carlisle recognized by Washburn football team
Former Tonganoxie High football standout Jeremy Carlisle recently was named the Washburn University Special Teams Player of the Week following the No. 9 Ichabods’ 45-20 win Sept. 8 at Fort Hays State. Carlisle blocked a punt, forced a fumble and had one solo tackle in the win against the Tigers.
On the Monday before the game, Carlisle was told by Washburn coaches that he wouldn’t make the trip to Fort Hays State. However, the staff reversed its decision three days later, citing Carlisle’s work ethic and quality of practice in the week preceding the game. He has since been named a special teams starter and helped WU to a 24-20 win Saturday against Northeastern State.
