Need to ship Christmas gifts? You have a few days left

By Staff | Dec 16, 2013

There are a few days left for residents to mail gifts to loved ones so that the packages arrive before Christmas.

The deadline for mailing items by first class mail is Friday. Packages up to 13 ounces can be mailed by first class mail, according to Kelly Fowler with Tonganoxie Post Office.

Packages that weigh more than 13 ounces must be shipped by priority mail. Deadline for priority mail is Saturday. Packages arrive within 2-3 days and come with $50 insurance and tracking.

For priority mail express, packages must be shipped by Dec. 23. Express mail is overnight service.

Folks wanting to play international Santa Claus must ship by 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) to ensure presents arrive before Christmas to other countries.

Retail hours for Tonganoxie Post Office, 1610 E. Woodfield Dr., are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m.-noon Saturdays.
