THS wrestling climbs to No. 5 in final pre-state rankings
The Tonganoxie High wrestling team’s recent success hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the Chieftains rose four spots to No. 5 in the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association’s Class 4A pre-state rankings.
Four of the team’s eight state qualifiers are present in the individual rankings. Seniors Julius Coats (195) and Thomas Miller (220) check in at first and third in their respective weight classes. The top ranking is the first this season for Coats, while Miller’s position did not change.
Sophomores Dalton Tavis (126) and Asher Huseman (152) are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. The No. 5 ranking marks Tavis’ season debut in the polls, while Huseman maintained his spot from a week ago.
Bonner Springs, the second-place finisher at Tonganoxie’s regional tournament, will enter the state tournament atop the team ranks.
