Chieftain girls cruise, boys win on Lean’s buzzer beater

By Justin Nutter - | Jan 4, 2013

? John Lean scored all of his 11 points in the second half, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer, to propel the Tonganoxie High boys to a 66-64 win at Anderson County.

The Chieftains (2-3) trailed by four points in the final seconds, but a conventional three-point play by James Grizzle made it 64-63 with 12.6 seconds left. Tonganoxie then forced a turnover and called a timeout at half court with 1.5 seconds left. Lean received the inbounds pass several steps behind the arc, and his shot sliced through the net as the final horn sounded.

Jack Dale led THS with 20 points, while Zach Hilliard scored 20 for Anderson County.
