Regional brackets announced for softball, baseball

Softball and baseball teams across Kansas learned their potential roads to the state tournament when regional brackets were released Wednesday by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

The Tonganoxie High softball team has earned a No. 3 seed in the Class 4A regional in Eudora. The Chieftains (10-6) will play No. 6 Bonner Springs (4-11) at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The winner will face either No. 2 Basehor-Linwood or No. 7 Bishop Ward on Tuesday.

The Chieftain baseball team (6-10) is the No. 6 seed in the Topeka-Hayden regional and will open at 4:30 p.m. Monday at host school and No. 3 Hayden (13-7). The winner will play No. 2 Jeff West or No. 7 Santa Fe Trail Tuesday at Washburn University’s Falley Field.

The McLouth High softball team is the No. 3 seed in its Class 2-1A regional at Valley Falls. The Bulldogs (14-4) will host No. 6 Leavenworth-Immaculata (0-10) at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The winner will play at host school and No. 3 Valley Falls, which has a first-round bye.

The Bulldog baseball team (1-15) is the No. 6 seed in the Oskaloosa regional and will travel to No. 3 Immaculata (7-4) at 5 p.m. Monday. The winner will face No. 3 Valley Falls Tuesday in Oskaloosa.
