KSHSAA announces regional cross country sites
Most Kaw Valley League cross country teams will have a league reunion of sorts when regional meets get under way on Oct. 26. Seven of the league’s eight schools will compete at Class 4A and 5A meets at Wyandotte County Park, hosted by Bonner Springs.
Basehor-Linwood, Bishop Ward, Piper and Tonganoxie will join host school BSHS in the 4A meet. The girls will run at 2:30 p.m. and the boys at 3:30 p.m. Other schools in the field are Atchison, De Soto, Eudora, Holton, Royal Valley, Sumer Academy, Jeff West, Perry-Lecompton, Bishop Miege, Hayden and Wamego.
Mill Valley and Turner will run in the 5A meet with the girls starting at 2 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m. Harmon, Schlagle, St. James Academy, Blue Valley Southwest, St. Thomas Aquinas and Pittsburg round out the field.
The KVL’s lone remaining school, Lansing, will run in a 5A regional in Topeka.
McLouth will run in a 2A meet at Troy with Northern Heights, Burlingame, Mission Valley, Jackson Heights, Bishop Seabury, Leavenworth-Immaculata (boys only), Lyndon, Olathe-Heritage Christian, Onaga, Maranatha Academy, Valley Falls, Jefferson County North and host Troy. During the regular season, McLouth is co-operative team with 3A Oskaloosa.
The top three teams and 10 individuals from each regional will advance to state, set for Nov. 2. The 4A and 2A meets will be in Wamego, while the 5A meet is at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence.
