Tonganoxie City Council and the USD 464 school board will have public hearings Monday for their proposed upcoming budgets.

The school board has approved a mill rate of 58.867 mills, a slight drop from the previous year’s rate of 58.891.

That meeting will start at 6 p.m. at Tonganoxie Middle School. Meetings normally take place at the Tonganoxie High School library, but the board plans to take a tour of the new elementary school site as part of Monday’s meeting. The site is southeast of TMS.

The city council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in council chambers for its budget hearing. The council approved a budget that includes a mill levy increase of nearly 3 mills. The 2015 budget has a mill levy rate of 44.403. The 2014 rate is 41.503
