Chieftain basketball teams swept by Bobcats
James Grizzle led all scorers with 30 points, but Tonganoxie fell to rival Basehor-Linwood in double overtime Tuesday, 77-69.
A 3-pointer by Basehor-Linwood’s Zach McNabb forced a 61-61 tie at the end of regulation, and both teams scored six points in the first overtime period. BLHS (12-2, 7-1 Kaw Valley League) used several late free throws to pull away, outscoring Tonganoxie (7-7, 4-4) in the second overtime, 10-2.
Grizzle scored at least 30 points for the second time in three games. He went 12-of-16 from the field. Chase Younger and McNabb led the Bobcats with 20 and 18 points, respectively.
The Chieftains will host Piper on Friday. The girls game will start at 5:45 p.m. and the boys game will immediately follow.
