The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte County until 9 a.m. Thursday morning and warn of significant sized hail.

The warning was issued at 8:18 a.m. in regards to a severe storm located over Gardner moving northeast at 50 mph. The warning said half-dollar sized hail is possible and damage to vehicles is expected. Locations affected, according to the warning include Shawnee, Olathe, De Soto, Lenexa, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Merriam, Basehor, Mission and Kansas City, Kansas.
