KSHSAA releases sub-state volleyball brackets
Brackets for Saturday’s sub-state volleyball tournaments have been released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
Tonganoxie is the No. 3 seed in a Class 4A-I tournament hosted by De Soto. The Chieftains (16-20) will open with No. 2 seed and Kaw Valley League rival Basehor-Linwood (22-14). The winner will play the winner of No. 1 De Soto (27-10) and No. 4 Eudora (13-22) for a trip to state.
DHS and EHS will start things off at 2 p.m., and Tonganoxie’s match will begin about 20 minutes after the first match ends. The winner of the tournament will advance to the 4A-I state tournament, set for Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Salina.
Meanwhile, McLouth is the No. 8 seed in a Class 2A tournament in Burlingame. The Bulldogs (3-32) are in a nine-team field, so they’ll play No. 9 Kansas City Christian (1-32) in a play-in match at noon Saturday. The winner will then face top-seeded Lyndon (30-5) for a spot in the semifinals.
The rest of the field is comprised of No. 2 Alma-Wabaunsee, No. 3 Maranatha Christian Academy, No. 4 Bishop Seabury, No. 5 Olathe-Heritage Christian, No. 6 Burlingame and No. 7 Mission Valley. The 2A state tournament will be Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Emporia.
