The Chieftains traveled to Lansing for their traditional, season-opening dual. The boys cruised to a 20-41 victory, while the girls edged out the Lions for a 27-29 win. Individual results will be posted when they become available. Both teams will return to action Thursday at the Holton Invitational.

Meanwhile, the volleyball team traveled to Eudora for a non-league dual. The freshman, junior varsity and varsity squads all defeated the Cardinals. The varsity team improved to 2-0 on the season with a win in four sets, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-18. All three teams will be back at home Monday against Atchison.
