THS volleyball suffers first loss

The Tonganoxie High volleyball went punch for punch with Baldwin on Thursday, but suffered its first loss of the season in straight sets, 28-26, 25-21, 25-23.

Jessica Minear, Summer Cerny and Mykah Wingerter led the Chieftains (3-1) with seven kills each, while Minear and Wingerter each added a block. Cheyenne Ford had two of the team’s five service aces, and Emily Hummelgaard had a team-best 25 digs.

THS will try to get back in the win column Tuesday when it travels to Kaw Valley League rival Basehor-Linwood. The freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams will all be in action, starting with the freshman match at 4 p.m.
