Chieftain soccer defeats Piper in OT
The Tonganoxie High boys soccer team picked up its fourth straight win Thursday, defeating Kaw Valley League opponent Piper in overtime at PHS, 3-2.
Piper gained an early advantage on a goal about 10 minutes into the first half, but Logan Williams evened the score off an assist from Asher Huseman. Garrett Martin gave the Chieftains (4-2-1, 2-2 KVL) the lead later in the half, and THS took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The Pirates forced a 2-2 tie in the second half, and the game went to overtime when the THS couldn’t score again before the end of regulation. Huseman won it less than four minutes into the extra period with his team-leading 13th goal of the season.
The Chieftains will have three games next week. They’ll host Mill Valley on Monday and St. Mary’s Academy on Thursday, then travel Friday to Maranatha Academy in Shawnee.
